TAYLER TO RUN
Meeting in Auckland J <N.Z. Press A sso< inttnu . AUCKLAND | Th e Commonwealth Games medallists. .1. Walker iand R. Tayler, will run at | the Mount Smart stadium in Auckland tonight. I They were to have left for North America from Auckland by air last evening, but the chairman of the Auckland Athletics Centre (Mr G. Davy) said yesterday that the pair had decided to delay their departure so that I they could run at the Win-[stone-sponsored meeting. Walker and Tayler will now leave on Saturday night, and will miss a Los Angeles meeting on Friday. “This now gives a world class field in the mile—John Walker, Pekka Vasala, and Rod Dixon. On top of that [we will have Tayler running , a two mile," said Mr Davy. I The mile time will almost [ certainly be under 4min. but lit is doubtful that the 3min i 50sec barrier will be broken ' Walker said yesterday: I i w’ould like to see at least a sub-4min mile. but I wouldn’t expect anything like 3min 49sec. I’m a little ■ bit flattened after the Games, but I am still hoping ; for a reasonable sort of time.”
