Ilam village arrest
The police arrested the () assistant manager of the ’(Cook Islands team at the Commonwealth Games village on Saturday morning. A warrant for the man’s' arrest was issued in Auckland after he was charged I with assault in 1966. Superintendent G. E.i Twentyman said yesterday that the police had known the man was in Christchurch for some time. They had . decided not to execute the ; ;warrant until Saturday, so! i that they would not upset : the Cook Islands team. [( The man was held in ■ custody during the week-end. i and will appear in the . Christchurch Magistrate’s ..Court this morning.
