No official uniform
Mohinder Singh Gil!, the Indian triple jumper who won a silver medal on Saturday afternoon and who ws the ;only athlete at the Games to appear on the dais for a viclory ceremony in civilian dress, did not have a track suit or any official uniform, as he had arrived in Christchurch only two days before competing in his event, said a team spokesman last evening. Gill had not originally been selected to compete at the Games because of India's pre sent economic situation and the cut-down on expenditure on the Games team. It was only a last-minute telephone call to the Prime Minister (Mrs Gandhi) that had enabled Gill to travel to Christchurch to compete.
