Mr Ordia pleased
Mr Abraham Ordia, chairman of the Council of African Sport, said in Christchurch yesterday that he had thoroughly enjoyed the Commonwealth Games, and had (found them very friendly. Asked about criticism it was anticipated that he would make about the British team at the Games because ; of the pending tour of South ) Africa by the Lions Rugby ' team, Mr Ordia said that he had planned nothing of the ’ kind. “I know there are people who, for their own reasons, 1 don’t want to hear the word , ‘Ordia’,” he said. “1 have , been misquoted many times, and people have put words : in my mouth. But I empha- • sise that I am here for the Games, and the Games only. ;) “Everywhere I have been i— in the village, in the sta- . dium, at all the venues — I have encountered nothing but ..friendliness,” Mr Ordia said. J “People greet you in the , (street, and the streets are . lined with friendly people. They have truly been the '‘Friendly Games’.”
