Explanation of salute
Kenya’s Ben Jipcho today ; explained his one-fingered (salute to the crowd, which he gave repeatedly as he I jogged around after his vicI tory in the 5000 metres. “It means one,” he said at a post-race press conference. One reporter suggested that Jipcho could well be holding up three fingers after Saturday’s 1500 metres final — one for each of his gold medals. He has already I won the 3000 metres steeple-: chase. Jipcho just smiled.
