I'omlinson, of ~nd. i three times New Zealand champion, and ! a national representative since 1957. is unavailable for the New Zealand table tennis team to visit China in March and to play in the Asian championships, in Yokohama, from April 2 to 16.

| Tomlinson has decided to step aside from selection because of recurring pam in I his right elbow. Last year. Tomlinson played in the New Zealand championships under the handicap of the elbow, for which he was having treatment. Playing at times in intense pain Tomlinson, aged 40. was narrowly beaten in the semi-finals of the men’sl singles. He was rated by the touring Japanese team last year
