Israeli plan to pull back
The Israeli Minister of Defence (General Moshe Dayan) has formulated a plan for disengagement of troops along the Suez Canal Front, which offers withdrawal in three stages to 20 miles east of the canal. Arab reaction to the plan, news of which came late last evening, has not yet been reported. However, Cairo newspapers, speculating yesterday on the likely outcome of General Dayan’s talks with the United States Secretary of State (Dr Henry Kissinger), were adamant that complete Israeli withdrawal from all Arab territories was a necessary prior commitment to negotiation.
