Cave Terrace
Sir, —Is it too late to ask the traffic committee why the traffic layout at the bottom end of Cave Terrace was changed? Could the chairman enlighten me and many other Monck’s Spur residents, when the work will be completed. —Yours etc., G. E. G. BURGESS. May 29. 1973. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The bottom of Cave Terrace was changed because its intersection with Main Road, Sumner, was considered too large for the safe management and control of traffic making turning movements. With the construction of the traffic island, median strip and appropriate road markings the intersection will become safer for turning traffic and for pedestrians who will be protected from traffic by the presence of the traffic island. Work is expected to be finished by the end of the month.”]
