Austin leads in scramble
(N.Z. Press Association > DUNEDIN. R. Austin, of Christchurch, leads the points tables in both the 500 c.c. and open classes after dominating these events in the Dunedin leg of the NewZealand gold star motor-cycle scramble at Waihola yesterday.
Two other Christchurch riders, J. Penny and G. Stapleton. are first and second respectively in the 250 c.c. class, and Stapleton heads the 350 c.c. class.
Over-all points in the series are:—
250 c.c.: J. Penny (Christchurch) 54, G. Stapleton (Christchurch) 40, D. Sincock (Dunedin) 32. 350 c.c.: G. Stapleton 47, D. Sincock 37, J. Penny 36. 500 c.c.: R. Austin (Christchurch) 43, G. Copsey (Christchurch) 24, G. Holland (Christchurch) 19. Open class: R. Austin 40, R. Happer (Dunsandel) 34, G. Copsy 25.
