Drinking drivers
Sir, —“In Vino Veritas” writes that most New Zealanders drink and drive and are generally sensible. The other portion, the non-drink-ing drivers, have pride and 'respect for themselves, for other people, their homes and their families. Can anyone really say that any man or woman who drinks and drives is sensible, drunk or not? You .could hardly call drinking alcohol, even in small quantities, a civil liberty. It is no wonder there are so many widows and children left without fathers. Call it just luck for some and unlucky for others. — Yours, etc.. I.E.D. January 10, 1973.
