Schoolboy cricket
t.V Z. Press Copunflla; CANBERRA New Zealand beat Vic Itoria by 13 runs yesterdax and won the Australian i schoolboys' cricket championship. It had six victories ! in seven matches. However, as New Zealand competed in the series In invitation, it cannot hold the championship. The new champion i* Western Australia, which beach South Australia yesterday. It is the first time that the championship has gone out of Victoria since the competition was introduced three years ago. In other matches. Australian Capital Territory beat Tasmania and New South Wales defeated Queensland The final points were: New Zealand 40. Western Australia 36. South Australia. New South Wales 30. Victoria 18. A.C.T., Tasmania. Queensi land 6. In its match against New Zealand. Victoria was set to score 137 runs to win. but was all out for 123. The leading wicket-taker was R. Ogilvie. who had four for 32 in i 11.5 overs. i The New Zealand innings was dominated by two batsmen. K. Puna (52) and C. Nicolli (44).
