Sir Trutone drops out

(N.Z. Press Association) PERTH. New Zealand’s contingent for the $lOO,OOO Perth Cup (2) on January 1 was reduced yesterday when Sir Trutone was withdrawn from the field, leaving 34 horses in at first declarations. Sir Trutone was to have been sold to a Perth owner for $ll,OOO, but when the sale fell through he was taken out of the cup field. Another New- Zealand stayer, Ansin,. arrived in Perth yesterday. N. Landers has been booked to ride him In the cup. The Melbourne Cup winner. Piping Lane, which has regained his position as favourite for the race, is top-weight with 52.4 kg (8-4). Twenty runners and four emergencies are expected to he declared for the cup. Even at this early stage none of the fancied runners appears to be in danger of a ballot. Final declarations will be made on December 27.
