Rally won by Briton

(N.Z. Press Assn,—Copyright) YORK. The Briton, R. Clark, in a Ford Escort, yesterday won the 2000-mile Royal Automobile Club’s rally, being chased to the finish in torrential rain by a pack of Scandinavians, Associated Press reported.

His success ended a 13year run of Swedish and Finnish victories in the gruelling British motoring event. With almost half of the 191 entrants dropping out along the four-day route, Clark, having taken the lead soon after the start, reported a trouble-free run throughout the rain-drenched event Blomqvist (Sweden), in a Saab, winner last year, finished second, lamenting the lack of snow or ice which might have allowed him to get on terms with Clark. Another Swede, A. Kullang, in an Opel, was third.
