CHILD DIES IN CAR FIRE

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 6. A child was burnt to death and two others suffered severe burns when a carparked in an alley burst into flames in Pukekohe early this afternoon.

The names of the children were not available tonight because the police were still inquiring into how the accident happened. It is believed that the two children who suffered bums were not seriously injured. They were treated at Middlemore Hospital and later transferred to Auckland Hospital. Mr R. A. Kriletich, an accountant, was walking along King Street (the main street) when he noticed flames and smoke coming from a car parked in the alleyway. He hurried to a nearby office and

asked a girl to ring the brigade. When he left the office three men came running from the hotel across the road. One yelled that three children were in the car. They opened a front door but flames forced them away from the car, said Mr Kriletich. The fire brigade then arrived, followed by an ambulance.
