Clarification sought
The Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) will meet the members of the Canterbury branch of the Values Party today or tomorrow to clarify a remark made by the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) in Christchurch at the weekend. Mr Muldoon told a reunion of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade Association that those who considered the Government was spending too much on defence were “traitors to their country.” Mr N. W. Williams, coordinator for the Values Party in Canterbury said last evening that the meeting was being arranged by the Minister of Tourism (Mr Walker). Mr Walker had indicated that he did not think Mr Muldoon’s remarks included the Values Party, but that he would still arrange a meeting to clarify the situation.
