DAWES IN DOUBT
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON.
J. Dawes, the captain of the Lions in New Zealand last year, is a doubtful starter for the clash between London Counties and the All Blacks at Twickenham on Saturday. The 32-year-old Dawes needed eight stitches in a deep cut on his right temple after being injured playing for London Welsh against Moseley at the week-end. “It is touch and go whether I can play, and I won’t be able to give a definite decision until our final practice session on Friday,” Dawes said. “It was a pure accident. I tackled Malcolm Swain and his studs brushed my face.” A. Hill is the nominated reserve centre.
