Rubbish plan conditions
An application by Allan M. Rhodes, Ltd, to dump rubbish in the old shingle pit at Halswell Junction Road that Waste Management, Ltd, wanted to use for fill from a rubbish pulverising plant was held over by the Paparua County Council last evening. Waste Management, Ltd, did not wish to proceed with the dumping of non-noxious hard fill, the Health inspector (Mr G. W. L, Fairhall) reported. Allan M. Rhodes, Ltd, had subsequently applied for a permit to establish an offensive trade. Mr Fairhall said that the application could be granted on conditions, including a ban on the dumping of noxious or organic material, but the council, recalling the protests of residents at the earlier application, deferred a decision to get a further report “on the stringent conditions considered necessary.”
