Dean’s successor
The Rev. Timothy John Bavin, Vicar of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Brighton, will be the new Anglican Dean of Johannesburg, succeeding the Very Rev. Gonville ffrenchBeytagh. The former dean announced his retirement in April on hearing of his successful appeal against a fiveyear prison sentence imposed under South Africa’s Terrorism Act, and left for England immediately. His successor, who is 37 and unmarried, will take up his appointment in February.-— Johannesburg, Nov. 6.
