One position involves teaching and developing courses for first year Arts. Law, Education and Science students. The aim of these English Language courses is to develop reading and writing skills and study skills that will enable students to study more effectively at University. Preference will be given to applicants who possess experience or post-graduate qualifications in the teaching of English as a Second Language. DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY Applications are Invited for the following positions in the Department of Geology: LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN PETROLOGY/ GEOCHEMISTRY (31.1.73) Applicants should be able to supervise graduate students and develop research programmes as | well as to teach courses in optical minerology and crystallography. igneous and metamorphic petrology and related aspects of geochemistry. The duties w’ill include contributions to the Introductory Geology’ units of the Science and Agriculture degrees and may also include some teaching of geology in Preliminary' Year. TUTOR/DEMONSTRATOR IN PETROLOGY (30.11.72) Applicants should have an Honours degree in Geology and be able to commence in January/ February. 1973; previous demonstrating experience would be an advantage. Duties will Include the preparation and teaching of Preliminary Year and Introductory Geology course, and also courses in minerology, petrology and structural or economic geology in subsequent years. The appointee will be encouraged to enrol for a higher degree with supervision available in the fields of Petrology/Geochemistry. Structure/Tectonlcs, and Sedimentology.

SENIOR/CHIEF TECHNICIAN (31.12.72) Applicants (able to commence in January, 1973) should be qualified geological technicians, with experience in a range of rock and soft sediment preparative techniques, and familiarity with geological equipment and Its maintenance. Duties will Include responsibility for the development of the Department’s technical facilities, the oversight and training of local technical staff, and the preparation of teaching and research materials (including petrological thin and polished sections).
