Trawlers shelter
(N.Z.P A .-Reuter—Copyright) REYKJAVIK, Oct. 31. Icelandic gunboats have failed to drive off British trawlers which sought shelter close inshore from hurricaneforce winds and raging seas. The Coast Guard reported on Sunday that its vessels unsuccessfully tried to chase away a group of 15 trawlers 'who refused to budge from their shelter in Isafjord Bay. The Coast Guard said that the vessels were later instructed to leave the trawlers I in peace. Although official confirmation was not available, this — was thought to be linked with lan exchange of letters between the British Prime Minister (Mr Edward Heath) and i Iceland’s Prime Minister (Mr Olafur Johannesson). The trawlers face the threat of arrest if they put into Icelandic ports after being booked for fishing inside Iceland’s unilaterally declared; [5O-mile fishing limit, which! both Britain and West Ger-! imanv disnute.
