Play-backs unwelcome

English soccer officials are considering taking action to ban “action replays” from televised coverage of games. Mr Alan Hardaker, secretary of the English Football League, said that the slow motion play-backs were beginning to pillory referees and linesmen. The use of slow motion replays was highlighted recently by the film evidence used'in a High Court case in which a soccer player successfully appealed against a disciplinary committee ruling.
