Golf events may clash (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY. The Australian Golf Union will hold a meeting during next week’s World Cup tournament in Melbourne to discuss with representatives of Wills, Qantas and Dunlop next year’s Australian circuit. The discussions will be of vital interest to New Zealand, for present plans are believed to involve moving the major Australian events into November to avoid clashes with rich tournaments in Japan and America. In doing this, the Australian circuit would move into conflct with New Zealand’s tournaments, thus re-opening the problems of several years ago. Then, the Australian P.G.A. banned its players from competing in New Zealand when the tournaments clashed with Australian events.
Rugby. — Mid-Canterbury has Issued the fifth Ranfurly Shield chaUenge to Canterbury for next season. At least six more challengers are expected.
