Soldier on charge
A 19-year-old soldier was remanded in Army custody when he appeared in the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court on Saturday on a charge of injuring another soldier in circumstances which if death had been caused, he would have been guilty of manslaughter. The soldier’s name was suppressed on the application of his counsel, Mr G. S. Brockett, who said that medical investigation into the alleged offence was necessary.
No plea was taken. The defendant was remanded to November 6.
