Chathams hustings

With campaigning getting under way for the General Election, the most far flung of the hustings in New Zealand has already been visited by two of its candidates. Voters in the Chatham Islands, 467 miles from Lyttelton, have had the opportunity of hearing and speaking to the National Party candidate for Lyttelton—in which electorate the islands come—during the last three days. The candidate, Mr J. P. C. Blumsky, left the islands on Friday—the same day the Labour Party candidate and sitting member for the electorate, Mr T. M. McGuigan, arrived. Mr McGuigan will be at the Chatham Island until tomorrow.
