Indonesian project
Professor I. E. Coop, the professor of animal science at Lincoln College, will leave soon for Indonesia, where he will begin an investigation into the feasibility of establishing large-scale cattle ranching in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
He is going under the auspices of Asian New Zealand Development Consultants and will be away about six weeks. It is likely that the investigation will be continued early next year by a team including a soil scientist, a tropical pasture specialist, a hydrologist, an economist, and a livestock specialist. Professor Coop will be leading the project, which is similar to one undertaken recently in the eastern islands of Indonesia by Professor 3. D. Stewart, the professor of farm management at the college, who Professor Coop said would be helping in the final assessment.
