Australian markets

Industrial share prices were firmer in moderately active trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Mining and oil shares were mixed, but in Melbourne over-all rises outnumbered falls by two to one. Comalco put on 8c to 388 c and C.U.B. 6c to 506 c, but B. lost 5c to 1270 c. The Sydney stock exchange intends to re-commence quotation of the securities of Howard Smith, Ltd, from the opening of trading today. James Hardie lost 10c to 650 c, but 15,200 shares changed hands at 660 c in a special sale. T.N.T., the Bank of N.S.W. and Myer showed small gains. Poseidon, Robe River, Seicast and Utah improved.
