Bequests of $49,000
After the payment of legacies totalling $lOOO, the balance of the $50,000 estate of Mr Archibald Howie will be divided into nine equal parts for distribution to philanthropic organisations. Mr Howie died at Greymouth on February 28, and the District Public Trustee (Mr H. D. Kirton), who is administering the estate, says the nine shares will go to the Dixon House Trust Board, the Christchurch Aged People’s Welfare Council, the New Zealand Red Cross, the Canterbury Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association, Dr Bamardo’s, the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association, the Cancer Society’s Canterbury-Westland division and the Christchurch branch of the Society for the Protection of Home and Family.
