Fighting inflation

Sir, —I disagree entirely with “Risk-Taker.” The present Government has consistently legislated to make

the big man bigger and the small man smaller. Anyone with his eyes open can see this has been done very effectively for years and years, slowly but surely. The sooner Mr Marshall and company realise it is futile shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted the better. Inflation must hurt the small man first, and thereby bring about more and more uneconomic units, no matter what the field of endeavour. Obviously uneconomic units get forced to cease operation; therefore, we have take-overs, mergers, diversification, and then monopolies. It is now history that the steps taken so far, including the latest,, will not combat inflation. There is only one way to change the Government. Save fanning and the nation. —Yours, etc., FLEMING ROSS MILLER. March 30, 1972.
