No paper tomorrow “The Press” will not be published tomorrow, Good Friday. Egg rolling Men at McMurdo Station have challenged New Zealanders at Scott Base to the continent’s first annual egg rolling contest on Easter Sunday. It will be the best of six sent down the hill between the two bases on Ross Island. A bottle of liquor will be awarded to the winning team. The Kiwis replied that the New Zealand egg was larger, more robust and had a greater capacity than its American equivalent. Kiwi eggs also produced a non-flying bird accustomed to travelling well on the ground. And the New Zealanders are hatching winning plans.

Games fund gift The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr N. G. Pickering) was given a cheque for $l2O by the St James’ Convent School Parent-Teacher Association at Aranui last evening to go towards the fund he opened for the development of Queen Elizabeth II Park for the Commonwealth Games. The money came from profits of one evening’s housie, held weekly to raise school funds.
