Landscaping at Bromley
A $46,000 proposal for the beautification and landscaping improvement of the Bromley treatment works has been approved by the Christchurch Drainage Board. The first part of the project will be allowed a $25,000 allotment in the 1972-73 estimates, together with a similar amount for an earthmoving machine. “The work involved includes tree-planting; removal of old buildings, trees, hedges, and scrub; general tidying; and the erection of new fences, among other things,” said the chairman of the board’s construction and treatment works committee (Mr C. H. Russell) yesterday. The earth-moving machine would be bought because cost studies had shown there would be administrative savings in doing so, and the work could be programmed better, said Mr Russell. It would also be used on othei board projects.
