AUCKLAND, March 8.
The status quo has resumed at Kinleith after the dismissal of a boilermaker, and a two-day stoppage by the 1100 men on the Forest Products, Ltd. expansion site. The men returned to work on Monday afternoon after the reinstatement of the boilermaker, pending a hearing by the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr G. O. Whatnall).
A spokesman for the contracting company which difc missed the man said today that the hearing did not take place. He said he understood that the issue would be decided by Mr Whatnall, but when the man was reinstated, the' Boilermakers* Union declined to take part in a hearing. As a result, the man had his job back, and the issue Of whether he was justifiably dismissed was not determined.
