YACHTSMEN INVITED
Overseas trip for two fN.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. New Zealand has been invited to send two yachtsmen to compete in a youth contest to be sailed at Travemunde, Germany, immediately before Olympic events at Kiel in August The invitation includes accommodation at a special Olympic youth village, to enable the chosen pair to remain for the Olympic yachting events. The yachtsmen have to be between the ages of 17 and 20. They will race in the international 420 class of yachts—a 13ft Bin two-man craft which has similar dimensions to the Javelin of New Zealand, and has the round bilge similar to the R class.
Mr H. Wagstaff, chairman of riie Olympic committee of the New Zealand Yachting Federation, said yesterday that every club in New Zealand would be asked to nominate candidates for the trip.
