NEW BOAT IN ACTION
Attempt on records (N.Z. Frets Association) AUCKLAND. A new speedboat which will attempt to set New Zealand and Australian speed records later this year will make its debut at the Auckland' Provincial Powerboat Association’s two-day regatta on the Tamaki River at the weekend. It is a racing runabout. Black Magic, owned by a former racing driver, Mr S. Black, bf Morrinsville. Powered by a massive 7.3 litre engine, it is expected to provide strong competition for the top two racing runabouts, Allegro and Miss Coventry, which have been dominating racing. Mr Black intends attempting New Zealand and Australian V-bottom speed records at Lake Karapiro within the next two months. This week-end, Black Magic will be driven by G. Wallace (Huntly).
