TWO YOUTHS INJURED

Two youths were injured when their motor-cycle and a car collided at the intersection of Westminster Street and Kensington Avenue, St Albans, about 7.40 pun. yesterday. One of them, Barry Matthew Gallen, aged 15, of 126 Bishop Street, St Albans, was admitted to Christchurch

Hospital suffering from leg and arm injuries. He was still undergoing surgery late last evening. The other, Gregory Fahey, of 78 Mahars Road, St Albans, who suffered minor leg and arm injuries, was treated at the hospital and discharged.

Oysters plentiful

Oysters were available from most Christchurch retailers yesterday for the first time since the season opened last Wednesday. A plentiful supply reached Christchurch on Tuesday night after the Bluff oyster fleet had its first full day’s fishing on Tuesday. Bad weather in Foveaux Strait had either curtailed fishing or kept the fleet in port every day since the season opened except one, when the fleet remained tied up so the fishermen could attend the funeral of a former colleague. Prices appeared to have steadied at 46c to 48c a dozen raw and 60c cooked, and are likely to regain so throughout the season.

Rugby The dates and venues for the English Rugby League Cup semi-finals are: Leeds v. Halifax, April 8, Bradford; St Helens v. Warrington, April 15, Wigan.
