Bowls final to Auckland
Auckland narrowly beat West Coast in the national final of the Rothmans inter-centre bowling tournament, played at Greymouth at the week-end.
Each team won a pairs and a fours and the deciding factor was the double success achieved in the singles by R. L. McDonald (Auckland).
Results:— Singles.—R. L. McDonald (Auckland) 22, J. Scott (West Coast) 18; McDonald 23, Scott 11.
Pairs.—E. Pascoe and B. Crestani (West Coast) 23. D. Verrail and N. Burrett (Auckland) 22; Burrett 21, Crestani 10.
Fours.—J. Gilbert, J. Longville. A. Greenbury, and A. Bridge (Auckland) 22, R. Dishlngton, A. Geddes, R. Stevenson, and F. Goodall (West Coast) 21; Goodall 26, Bridge 13.
