Aust, company stops bonuses
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 7.
The electronics company EML (Australia), Ltd, has advised its 800 employees in Sydney that it must impose a freeze on all bonus and over-award payments. The freeze, which will apply from February 1 and continue until at least January 1 of next year has been brought about by disturbing factors in the Australian economy, according to the company’s managing director, Mr K. East.
He says in a letter to union delegates that surveys have indicated lower demand for the company’s products this year.
