Polo test team
(7V.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. Four Waikato players make up the New Zealand polo team to meet Australia in the first of three tests, at Hastings on January 23. The team announced by the selectors, Messrs E. B. Cox (Cambridge), A. F. Mackenzie (Hawke’s Bay), and G. C. Howlett (Hamilton), is: A. Kay (Kihikihi), K. Browne (Morrinsville), J. Watson (Cambridge), and J. Walker (Taupiri). Reserve: M. Bellerby (Wanstead). Australia scored a 9-6 win over Cambridge, New Zealand’s top polo side last season, in their match at Hamilton yesterday, after the scores had been tied in the last chukka.
It is unlikely the Australian four will meet a tougher combination than Cambridge and must be favoured to win the tests.
