Fuel lost
Vandals caused the loss of about 10 gallons of diesel fuel from a pump at the Middleton Service Station, at the comer of Middleton Road and Blenheim Road, about 10 a.m. yesterday. The fuel flowed on to the footpath, but caused no permanent damage. It was first noticed by a passer-by who heard the pump bell ringing as each gallon passed. The pump had been set to run by itself. Firemen from Sockbum and the emergency tender from the Central station mopped up the fuel.
