PURDIE FIT
"The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH.
Purdie looked ready for his clash with Topsy in the Wairarapa Challenge Cup at Tauherenikau when he completed a good trial at Awapuni yesterday morning. Purdie worked on the plough and went six furlongs in Imin 18sec, the last three in 38 3-ssec. He was hard held and worked most impressively. So did the Hastings candidate, Twitchit, which ran six furlongs in Imin 20sec, the first and last three in 40sec.
Pakistan Prince dashed over half a mile in 50 l-ssec, the last three in 36 3-ssec. He has improved and has a good chance tomorrow.
Bounty took 51sec for half a mile and Tantara went smartly over three in 37sec. She has freshened.
Young Ida was never at top from the five in Imin 7 l-ssec, the last three in 40 l-ssec. She missed some work but is still fit for her clash with Thanksgiving in the Oaks and Derby Trial.
