Horseshoe pitching championships
Two cases of New Zealand horseshoes are being delivered to the United States Navy Antarctic , Support Force headquarters at Christchurch International Airport this week. The horseshoes, which are being collected from the Oust and Rangiora areas, will be used by American servicemen, who will practise with them for New Zealand's first
horseshoe pitching championships which will be held at Bishopdale shopping centre early in January. The men are being coached for the Bishopdale contest by a former horseshoe pitching chempion of the United States Atlantic Fleet. About eight cases of horseshoes will be used for the contest, which will take place in two rings at the shopping centre.
