FETE RAISES $7OOO
A record amount of more than $7OOO was raised at the Mary Potter Hospital garden fete in the Calvary Hospital grounds on Saturday. The president of the hospital’s auxiliary committee (Mr J. B. Lagan) said the money would go towards the cost of looking after about 47 aged and sick persons, buying the hospital’s second ripple mattress, and other equipment.
The garden fete had been held for the last 25 years. Larger crowds than usual had attended.
The hospital is run by the Roman Catholic sisterhood, the Little Company of Mary, for patients from all denominations.
