Fouth Council president
Mr R. J. Wilson, formerly of Christchurch, is the new president of the National Youth Council. A liaison officer for the State Services Commission, Mr Wilson was elected president for a twoyear term at the council’s annual meeting in Wellington. Mr Wilson, aged 30, is an Assistant National Commissioner of the Scout Association, and is the chairman of the Governor-General’s Young Adult Award Scheme. A graduate of the University of Canterbury, Mr Wilson was a child welfare officer in Christchurch for several years, and he was commissioner for Venturer scouts for Canterbury from 1964 to 1968.
In 1968, he received a Rotary Foundation Fellowship in international understanding and then undertook postgraduate study at the University of Manitoba, Canada.
Mr Wilson has been deputy president of the council since 1970, and in 1969 he was a member of the New Zealand delegation to the seventh World Assembly of Youth, in Liege, Belgium. He will lead the New Zealand delegation to the eighth World Assembly of Youth, in Accra, Ghana, in August next year.
Jaycee election.— Officers elected for 1972 by the Christchurch Jaycee Chapter were: President, Mr P. G. Sharpe; immediate past-presi-dent, Mr S. C. Hackwell; vice-presidents, Messrs I. Harrison, R. Forgie, M. Winder; board, Messrs R. Armitage, P. Bowie, B. Bruce, R. Collins, I. Donaldson, G. Lewis, E. Livingstone, R. Rondel. W. Trethowan.
