OBITUARY
Mr J. H. Williams
Mr John Harold Mostyn Williams, a man who built up a comprehensive collection of stamps and covers connected with exploration and research in the Antarctic, has died in Christchurch. Mr Williams was made an honorary life member of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Antarctic Society in 1967. He was a vice-president in 1964, sec-retary-treasurer from 1961 to 1965 and on the committee from 1963 to 1964.
His collection of stamps and covers, and books about the Antarctic, was bequeathed to the branch in 1968 and is now on permanent loan to the Canterbury Museum. Mr Williams exhibited his stamps and covers on several occasions, including at Minneapolis in the United States in 1960 and at a New Zealand philatelic exhibition in Christchurch in 1961.
