MINISTER AS CANDIDATE
(N.Z. Press Association)
WANGANUI, Sept. 7.
A Methodist minister from Masterton, the Rev. R. Marshall, has been announced as the Labour Party’s candidate for the Wanganui seat at the next General Election. The seat fell to the National Party in the last General Election. Mr Marshall will make regular visits to Wanganui before moving there permanently next year. He said he would take a year’s leave from the church and hoped to obtain a long-term relieving position teaching in a Wanganui secondary school. Mr Marshall emphasised he was not quitting the church.
