Juniors lose golf, play well
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The promising young Bay of Plenty golfer M. Nicholson led the New Zealand junior team In a fine display against a representative Wellington side at Miramar yesterday. The junior side loat 74-34. Nicholson, aged 18, finished all-square with the No. 1 Wellington Freyberg Rosebowl golfer R. Barltrop, on Baritrop’s ome course. J. Durry cemented Wellington’s win when he beat R. Johnston (Otago), 2-up. The junior team began badly when the first pair, W- Martin (Auckland) and C. Owen (Wanganui) loat. Martin 4 and 3, to J. Lacy, and Owen 4 and 3 to Rankin. However, R. Griffiths (Canterbury) and C. AUdred (Otago) made amends when they beat I. Macdonald. 3 and 2, and C. Castle, 5 and 4, respectively.
