JUNIOR SQUASH
The second annual district junior squash rackets teams' competition for the Rothman’s trophies, will be played at the Christchurch Club’s courts today and at the week-end. Played on a round-robin system, the competitions have attracted entries from Auckland, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay/Gisborne, Central Districts, Wellington, Southern Districts, and CanterCanterbury’s boys’ team has only one change from thai which gained third place laai year. This is the loss of Its No. 1 player, J. Tolchard. With his departure from junior ranks, the other team members have had to move up one place, and as the Auckland and Waikato teams are reputed to be stronger than last year, the Canterbury team will have a difficult task. Canterbury’s teams are:— Boys: P. Salt, L. Skurr, B. Trangmar, A. Robinson, G, McIvor. Gins: J. Mcllroy, P. Monk, J. Woodhead, 8. Rattray, and J. Hay. Low entries
Only three clubs have entered teams In the Canterbury district B grade teams’ event at Burnside at the week-end.
With a strong Christchurch club team entered, the majority of other clubs have evidently decided that the rather excessive entry fee of 320 a team would be better spent on other things. Burnside will play Sumner on the Saturday, the winner to meet Christchurch on Sunday. Teams are:— Burnside: N. D. Rush, J. S; Crosble. J. Moseley, L. Fullwood, and S. Davenport. Sumner L. G. Milne, D. J. Triggs, P. C. Johnston, J. McDougall, and W. Rothwell. Christchurch: M. Billington, R. N. Hawkes, L. Williams, R.- D. Monk, and C. C. Klssllng.
