Flight for Watallan

"The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. Arrangements have been completed for Watallan to travel by air to Australia for the Melbourne spring carnival. His Wingatui trainer, B. J. Anderton, said the Bellborough gelding would accompany the team of W. Winders, of Te Rapa, which is scheduled to leave Auckland earlv next month.

Watallan left yesterday for Auckland to race at the Avondale Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday and Saturday week. He will then return to Wingatui and is likely to complete his present racing in New Zealand on the first day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s spring meeting.Watallan’s target in Australia will be the Caulfield Cup, to be run on October 6, and his tralnjer hopes that he will arrive in I Melbourne in time to have at least a couple of races before the big event. Races he has in mind for this programme include the Caulfield Stakes, a mile and a quarter ; event at weight-for-age on October 9, and the Churnside Stakes, six furlongs, at Caulfield on October 13.
