Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. ; The Government has approved the expenditure of $3,350,000 over three years for the purchase and installation of computer equipment in New Zealand universities. The Minister of Education (Mr Taiboys) said the Government had approved a recommendation by the University Grants Committee to enable acceptance of an offer by Burroughs, Ltd, for the equipment. “The acceptance of this offer involves the expenditure of $3,350,000 over a three-year period, during which the company will Install their Burroughs G7OO series system at Auckland, Massey, Victoria, Canterbury and Otago Universities, together with their DCI2OO terminal systems at Waikato University and Lincoln College, linking these two institutions to the Auckland and Canterbury Universities respectively,” tie said.
