MOROCCO GOVT

Dismissal by King

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) RABAT, August 5.

King Hassan II of Morocco announced last night that he had dismissed the entire Government led. by the Prime Minister, Dr Ahmed Laraki.

The King’s move came less than a month after an abortive coup attempt against him by dissident Anny officers. Dr Karaki’s government was formed in October, 1969. The King said that he would delegate his powers to a new Prime Minister, whom he did not name, to form a new Government which would be charged with drawing up a four-point programme.

He said that the new government would be a temporary one; in office for between 18 months and two years, during which time it would have to initiate reforms in education, the economy, the administration and justice. One of its immediate tasks would be to launch a vigorous campaign against abuse of power, against "corrupters and the corrupted."
