Speculation about franc
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) ] PARIS, August 4. i The French Minister of l Finance (Mr Valery Giscard ■ d’Estang) has reiterated that France will take further measures, if necessary, to counter the inflow of foreign funds into the country. Mr Giscard d’Estang told reporters that speculation about revaluation of the franc was absurd. France would take further steps, as necessary, “in the spirit of the guidelines laid down by the Common Market Commission at the beginning of Jtlly.” The commission then advocated the imposition of controls on foreign borrowing by residents in member-States restrictions on money market operations by non-residents; and the use of reserve requirements, particularly on non-resident deposits.
